Each year, Pewabic hosts an Empty Bowls fundrasier in support of Gleaners Community Food Bank. Julie Ptasznik of Gleaners shines her light on this partnership.
It is my pleasure to, again, work on the Pewabic Empty Bowls event to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank. As a Gleaners employee, I have worked with Pewabic for over 10 years, and it has been an amazing partnership. We raised over $10,000 last year and Gleaners provided 30,000 meals with that money. We are hoping for another fantastic fundraiser!
Alex Thullen, Senior Glaze Technician, writes about our curating our current exhibition “State of Flux.”
I cannot have been an ideal student.
It would be charitable to say that I was willful, and I often annoyed my professors by spending so much time testing and experimenting with glazes, I rarely bothered to make pots to put them on. I caught the glaze bug very early on in my ceramic career, and it has been an endless source of fascination, and frustration to me ever since.
