Pewabic’s mission is to enrich the human spirit through clay. We’ve been doing that for more than a century.

With your help, we’ll still be doing it a hundred years from now. Please support Pewabic Pottery by making a tax-deductible gift to our Tile Studio Expansion Campaign, and help secure a $100,000 matching grant from the Erb Family Foundation!

A Century of Inspiration

Pewabic has been handcrafting pottery and tile in Detroit since 1903. From the Guardian Building to the Detroit Public Library to the DIA to the People Mover to Comerica Park … the story of our first century is written in clay all across the region.

And we’re busier than ever. This year, Pewabic provided tile designs for Little Caesars Arena and all of the new QLINE streetcar stations. We worked with the PBS team from This Old House on their first-ever Detroit renovation project, and created art murals for the Plymouth District Library, the birthing center at St. John Hospital, and Sparrow Health System’s new Herbert-Herman Cancer Center in Lansing.

Pewabic has been enriching Detroit and southeastern Michigan with beautiful tile designs for 115 years. Your gift today will ensure that this artistic legacy continues.

Preparing for the Next 100 Years

Using a vacant lot in the back (north) corner of our campus, Pewabic is adding a 2,500-square-foot addition to our tile studio. The design by award-winning inFORM Studio blends old and new, showcasing iridescent Pewabic tile in a contemporary brick facade.

The addition will create a better, more expansive working environment, with natural light and ventilation. It will also include our first ADA accessible restroom.

Last but not least, this addition will double our current production capacity. We’ll bring in more earned revenue every year, which translates into more educational and community programs, and more of what you love about Pewabic — the crafting of iconic tiles in our National Historic Landmark pottery.

Coming Soon – with your Help

The tile studio building and equipment will cost $1 million. We’ve already raised more than $725,000 in gifts and commitments. We need your help to close the gap.

The Erb Family Foundation has provided a $100,000 challenge grant to help with the construction, but we need to match it dollar for dollar with individual gifts. Your tax-deductible contribution will help us meet that goal … and add another chapter to an extraordinary Detroit legacy.

Please give today, and help us cut the ribbon in 2018.
