Welcome to pewabic
Founded in 1903, Pewabic is one of the oldest continually operating potteries in the country. Working out of our National Historic Landmark studio on Detroit's east side, we preserve a tradition of craftsmanship that has enriched lives for generations.
Pewabic today is an active working pottery, architectural tile studio, ceramic arts education center, and vibrant cultural destination that attracts visitors from around the world.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we continue to be guided by a singular mission: to enrich the human spirit through clay.
Pewabic has been crafting ceramic work at the pottery for over a century and counting. Visit the store to shop handcrafted tiles and pottery along with the work of over 30 ceramic artists.
Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm
Can't make it in person? Explore our extensive, ever-changing inventory of handmade ceramics available online.
Learn more about our history and the process of creating ceramic art while strolling through our free exhibition "Pewabic: Detroit's Pottery" on view in the second floor gallery.
Become a part of our educational legacy by signing up for a one-hour tile glazing workshop or dive deeper with a longer intensive class.
Pewabic has been creating timeless tile installations since our founding in 1903. Our designers continue that tradition and are ready to help you make your architectural tile dreams a reality. From fireplaces and backsplashes, to murals and floors, bring a piece of our history into your favorite spaces.
