In the 1920s, Pewabic co-founder Mary Chase Perry Stratton traveled abroad to Europe to find inspiration for her tile installations. Stratton visited Rome where she was influenced by the imagery in the catacombs to create this Vase Tile. This design has been featured in church installations, school drinking fountains, and personal fireplaces around Detroit and beyond.
