Friday AM Centering Session - Bringing Mindfulness to the Wheel

Bridging the gap between Mindfulness-Based Art Therapy and clay work, participants of this group will receive technical instruction in wheel throwing alongside Mindfulness skills training and group-based Art Therapy. The primary aim of this class is to illuminate the connection between Mindfulness skills and conscientious engagement in clay work in order to facilitate a greater focus on mindful awareness both inside and outside of the studio.

Katheryn’s Professional Background: Kathryn is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor, Provisionally Licensed Art Therapist, and Certified Trauma Professional. She holds a BA in Ceramics with a Minor in Psychology and an MA in Counseling with a Specialization in Art Therapy from Wayne State University. She utilizes a combined approach of Mindfulness-Based Art Therapy, Existentialism, and Person-Centered approaches inflected with Transactional Analysis and Object Relations perspectives to facilitate Art Therapy courses that support participant growth and encourage introspection and greater emotional regulation. She has been a practicing clay artist for more than 15 years and has been working with Pewabic since 2015. 

Please note: No cash refunds will be issued during the first week of classes. Pewabic Education Studio is under no obligation to reschedule classes that are canceled upon the closure of the facility due to inclement weather, power outages, misunderstanding of schedule, Covid shutdown, and/or personal schedule. There is no guarantee that a make-up class will be offered. Classes will not be prorated to accommodate a missed class, nor will refunds be issued.
