Spring 2023 - Session 1: April 28-June 16 (8-week course)
This 8-week intensive will cover the western methods of raku firing. Students will learn through discussion, demonstration, and participation the glazing and firing techniques surrounding the art of western raku. This class will not cover the construction of work fired. Prior ceramic knowledge and bisque ware experience are required.
Who should take this class?: This class is best suited for adults (18+) who are considered intermediate/advanced and have a body of bisque ware to fire. Object making will not be covered in this course.
- This includes 3 hours of weekly instruction (during scheduled class time)
- Glazes, slips, underglazes, and firings
- A small studio shelf
- Open studio opportunity
- The first 25 pounds of clay
Open Studio Hours Session 1 through sign up system only:
Mondays: 10 am - 1 pm and 2-5 pm
Tuesdays: 2-5 pm
Thursdays 6-9 pm
Friday-Saturday 2-5 pm
Please note: No cash refunds will be issued during the first week of classes. Pewabic Education Studio is under no obligation to reschedule classes that are canceled upon the closure of the facility due to inclement weather, power outages, misunderstanding of schedule, covid shut down, and or personal schedule. There is no guarantee that a make-up class will be offered. Classes will not be prorated to accommodate a missed class, nor will refunds be issued.
