Thursday Afternoon Centering Sessions | Spring 2023 - Session 1

Thursday Afternoon Centering Sessions - "Speaking Through Color & Surface"

Thursdays from 2 pm-5 pm

Instructor: Kathryn Whitlock

Spring + Summer: Sessions 1 and 2: April 27-August 17 (16-week course)

Color has been described by some as the language of dreams. This course will familiarize participants with Mind/Body sensory processing, the expressive therapies continuum, color theory, and glaze formulation. From base glaze to triaxial blend to final product, students will learn a step-by-step approach to expanding their ceramic palette. Weekly group art therapy sessions will center around the exploration of personal color language, self-compassion, and emotional flexibility. Additionally, demos will center on texture, surface, fluidity, and line quality as well as the creation of functional and aesthetically pleasing test vessels. Prior clay experience is encouraged, but not required.
