Peter Pincus + Adam Welch

January 25, 2019 – May 8, 2019

In On Differentiation and Affinity, Peter Pincus and Adam Welch, two artists whose art is seemingly at odds, look to tradition to move forward, dismantling and then rebuilding the divide between the artistic and non-artistic, between the everyday and the resplendent. Both focus on object-making and reinvesting in the concept of function to give objects a new sense of authenticity. These artists incorporate aesthetic seriousness with pedestrian material, repelling and attracting tradition where the familiar are aesthetically transformed into the unfamiliar, rejuvenating.
