Led by a Pewabic expert, this special tour explores St. Matthew’s & St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, home to a remarkable and largely unknown Pewabic tile installation—and to the intertwined stories of two historic Detroit congregations.Â

Quite the Revelation: The History of Pewabic Pottery
Tuesday, September 29 at 2:30 PM + 5:00 PM
Join the Sindecuse Museum for an in-person lecture by Pewabic's Education Director & Archivist, Annie Dennis, as she discusses the 120-year history of Detroit's iconic Pewabic Pottery.Â
The presentation will take place twice on September 29th. The first presentation begins at 2:30 PM, with a repeat of the lecture occurring at 5:00 PM.
Guests should assemble in the Kellogg Auditorium on the ground floor of the University of Michigan's School of Dentistry.

Led by a Pewabic expert, this exclusive tour uncovers the building’s extraordinary decorative tile work–featuring a rich blend of historic tile manufacturers woven throughout its soaring interiors. Â

The Cathedral Church of St. Paul
A Pewabic expert will guide you through the iconic tile installations at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul. These designs were the first to incorporate Pewabic's notable iridescent-glazed tiles.
Proceeds from these tours directly support Pewabic's mission and the maintenance of the Cathedral's over-century-old building.

We welcome you back to the pottery this year for another exciting Raku Party day where you will choose and glaze a pot to be fired right before your eyes!

SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES WITH MULTIPLE DATES:
hands-on experiences for kids
Join us for a guardian + child tile making workshop
$50 Per Slot - includes admission for one legal guardian (18+) and one child (7-15 years of age).
Learn alongside your child in this 1-hour workshop where both participants will create their own tile using terracotta slabs, extra clay, and colored slips!
Children must be accompanied by an adult, and vice versa. Once fired, your tiles will be ready for pick-up at a later date.

During these 1-hour workshops, participants choose one of 4 tile designs, including our seasonal tile design, and learn how to glaze in the same way as our fabrication team. Once fired, tiles will be ready for pick up at a later date. Workshops are reserved for individuals 16 years of age and older.Â
