Explore the creative possibilities of handbuilding through the perspectives of experienced ceramic artists. In this 8-week intermediate series, a different Pewabic or community artist will lead a weekly demonstration, sharing their unique approach to constructing forms, developing ideas, and solving design challenges in clay.
From slab building and coil construction to sculptural techniques, surface development, and assembly methods, each session offers a new opportunity to expand your skills and discover fresh approaches to handbuilt work. Through demonstrations, discussion, and artist insights, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the many ways clay can be shaped, structured, and expressed through handbuilding.
This is an adult class for students ages 18 and older.
Class includes:
- 3 hours of weekly instruction
- Your first 25 lbs. of clay
- A personal student shelf for storage
- Access to open studio hours outside of class
This series is intended for intermediate students with prior handbuilding experience who are ready to deepen their practice through artist-led exploration and experimentation.
Important Information: The class is non-transferable, and no refunds will be issued after the first week of classes begin that Monday. Pewabic Education Studio is not responsible for rescheduling classes due to inclement weather, power outages, CDC-related shutdowns, schedule misunderstandings, or personal conflicts. Makeup classes are not guaranteed, and classes will not be prorated for missed sessions.
