Expand your handbuilding practice in this intermediate ceramics class with Pewabic Tile Presser Kevin Weeder. Designed for students with prior handbuilding experience, this course focuses on developing more complex forms, stronger construction methods, and more intentional surface design.

Students will build on foundational coil, slab, and pinch techniques while working toward more ambitious sculptural and functional pieces. The course will also continue developing understanding of glazing and the ceramic process from construction through firing. Previous handbuilding experience is required, as beginner techniques and introductory methods will not be covered.

This is an adult class for students ages 18 and older.

Class includes:

  • 3 hours of weekly instruction
  • Your first 25 lbs. of clay
  • A personal student shelf for storage
  • Access to open studio hours outside of class

This class is intended for students who have completed a beginner wheel class or have equivalent wheel-throwing experience and are ready to build on their existing skills.

Important Information: The class is non-transferable, and no refunds will be issued after the first week of classes begins that Monday. Pewabic Education Studio is not responsible for rescheduling classes due to inclement weather, power outages, CDC-related shutdowns, schedule misunderstandings, or personal conflicts. Makeup classes are not guaranteed, and classes will not be prorated for missed sessions. For questions, contact the Onsite Manager at lmccoy@pewabic.org.
