January, 22 2016 – March, 28 2016

Join us for the opening reception of our upcoming exhibition ‘This is the living vessel: person. This is what matters. This is our universe’.

The vessel has long functioned for the ceramic artist as the canvas does for the painter. This exhibition examines how the ceramic medium currently carries the question of identity and self-expression by focusing on work that has its basis in the vessel and the underlying metaphor of the body/person. Join us as we focus on seven individual artists drive to explore their place in the world through clay.

Our new exhibition is curated by Anders Ruhwald, Artist-in-Residence and Head of the Ceramics Department at Cranbrook Academy of Art. The exhibition will include works from Jeremy Brooks, Kathy Butterly, Nicole Cherubini, Marie Torbensdatter Hermann, Howard Kottler, Matthew Bennett Laurents and Roberto Lugo.
