Simon | Turquoise Collection
Steve Simon started his career in clay at the Pewabic Pottery in the 70’s as a work study student under the instruction of Jim Powell. Since then he pursued his interests in the ceramic arts and has displayed and sold his work in numerous juried shows, art galleries and street fairs.
After retiring as an art teacher he is currently an Adjunct Professor of Ceramics at WCCCD. Even though he is accomplished on the potter’s wheel, he is exploring the use of extrusions made with home-made dies and the use of sprig molds and stamps for the exterior low relief motifs. Each piece is individually assembled and unique with attention to detail. His hand-built extruded boxes are nature themed and are unique in their shapes and designs.
