Matt Fishman Ceramics | Summer Collection
After working in Bay Area Kitchens for ten years, Matt Fishman made the move into ceramics full time. The philosophies of working in a local, mindful, and handmade manner that have become such an integral part of California cuisine have been hugely formative in the way Fishman works with clay. Both food and ceramics have a duty to be as functional as possible, while celebrating and exploring the potential beauty of the ingredients used.
True to the handmade aspect of the ceramic process, no presses, molds, or machinery is used in forming the wares. For this reason, every piece will show slight variation in shape and surface.
Fishman’s work strives to explore the potential of local geology in the same way that chefs have been utilizing the unique ingredients of the region.
