The center of this 4 inch by 4 inch Gemini tile features twin men standing back to back, they wear flowing clothing and one holds arrows while the other holds a bow. The border around the square tile encircles the men and each of the four corners contains the Gemini sign. The tile rests on a deep blue velvet fabric with gold stars speckled across its surface.
The Gemini tile lies with the other two Pewabic Zodiac tiles on rich, velvety fabric the color of the night sky. The Taurus tile features a sturdy bull with its head bowed and horns lowered. The Aries tile has an alert ram with its legs positioned as if it is prancing. The ram's head is turned backwards over its shoulder.

This Gemini Tile features the iconic twins clothed in voluminous robes and holding a bow and arrows. Each tile in our Zodiac Collection features a low-relief artistic rendering of zodiac symbols hand-sculpted by Pewabic Designer Chris Mayse.

Pewabic co-founder Mary Chase Perry Stratton visited Europe in 1924 to gain inspiration for a large tile installation in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. Visiting sacred spaces in Portugal, Spain, and Italy, Mary was inspired by the crossover of astrology and religion in ancient architecture. Throughout her career, she utilized astrological symbols in her installations in religious spaces and as decoration on vessels.
