Kiln Pad Pop Up | Chris Mayse
July 16, 2017
Join us for this one-day solo exhibition of the work of sculptor and Pewabic Fabrication Supervisor Chris Mayse 1-4 PM July 16. Take in Mayse's latest works that explore duality through pairing stylized finished porcelain pieces with their more in-the-rough textured terra cotta counterparts.
Mayse received his BA in Ceramics from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, in 2008, and designed and sculpted action figures for Mattel and Hasbro before attending the Cranbrook Academy of Art 2011-2013 to earn his MFA in Ceramics. Along with working at Pewabic, Mayse is an adjunct professor of 3D Design Concepts at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. His work appears in exhibitions and in private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
This is Pewabic’s third Kiln Pad Pop-Up exhibition, held rain or shine in the courtyard of our historic landmark building. Mayse's pieces — tea bowls, planters, bud vases and a few larger pieces — will be available for purchase on a cash-and-carry basis. For additional information, please contact exhibitions@pewabic.org.
