The Twelve Days of Christmas collectible ornaments were first introduced in 2005 at Pewabic Pottery. The ornaments were released in sets of three days for four years. Designed by Dave McGee, senior designer, the collection was completed in 2008.
Historically, the traditional days mentioned are the twelve days starting Christmas Day. It possibly began as a Twelfth Night “memories-and-forfeits” game, in which verses were recited until a mistake was made.
“On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me ... a partridge in a pear tree.”
