Detroit Institute of Arts

Timeless Pewabic tile installations can be found throughout the Detroit Institute of Arts. In Armory Hall and Diego Rivera Court Pewabic Tile medallions create focal points on the floor (1990s). In between the two rooms a fountain featuring a face and natural imagery creates a stunning focal point (1927). In the entrance to the Decorative Arts collection two curved iridescent niches face off creating a sense of wonder around the glass art displayed within (1928). As you take the staircase to the Detroit Film Theatre, thin bands of Pewabic tiles (1927) add a decorative surprise to the risers of this utilitarian architectural feature. Once in the foyer to the theatre, a vertical band of green tiles draws attention to another drinking fountain (1990s).
