Ellison Tile | Angel Plaque
Ellison Tiles | Michigan
David Ellison specializes in porcelain and clay tiles. After starting with a sketch, he begins the process of hand-sculpting each design. Ellison gains inspiration from gothic architecture and symbolism, making every tile feel like a forgotten artifact from a faraway land. Hand-painting the tiles means that each piece of Ellison Tile is truly one of a kind.
David Eliison’s connection to Pewabic is strong. Before Pewabic became a non-profit organization, it was owned by Michigan State University as a satellite ceramics studio. Ellison worked at the pottery at that time, helping to facilitate the transition to non-profit while teaching classes, designing tile installations, running kilns, and ordering equipment to bring the pottery back to life.
