Based in Chicago, Microcosm Ceramics was founded by Mary Drabik. She has been working in clay for 20 years, primarily using a high fire porcelain clay. In Drabik's words "Porcelain reminds me of clouds and marshmallows when I’m working with it and that works beautifully with my drawings & patterns."
Each piece is created by hand, starting with a ball of clay it is transformed into forms by the act of pinching the clay between her fingers. Drabik designs each piece, makes, decorates, glazes and fires all of her ceramics.
