The reason a vessel is designated as a second can range from inconsistent glaze surfaces, bubbles in the glaze surface, glaze that ran too much in the kiln and required grinding at the base, minor cracks, forms inconsistent with our size or shape requirements, and maker’s marks that are placed incorrectly or missing. We have sorted through our stock of seconds to pull the best of these imperfect pieces for this sale.
