Fridays from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Instructor: Josh Kochis

Session I: May 16 - June 27 (7-week course)

Explore the timeless art of tile-making in this hands-on class led by Pewabic Slip Casting Specialist and Tile Pressing Technician Josh Kochis. Students will learn traditional techniques of designing, fabricating, and glazing tiles. The course will cover sculpting, carving, hand-painting, and the essential skills of mold-making for tile pressing.

Who Should Take This Class?
This class is perfect for adults (18+) who are new to tile-making or for those looking to refresh their skills. 

What’s Included:

  • 3 hours of weekly instruction 

  • Access to a variety of materials, including glazes, slips, and underglazes

  • Kiln firings 

  • A small personal studio shelf 

  • The first 25 pounds of clay 

  • 3 weekly open studio sessions (schedule will be posted in advance)

Important Information:

  • The class is non-transferable, and no refunds will be issued after the first week of classes.

  • Pewabic Education Studio is not responsible for rescheduling classes due to facility closures caused by inclement weather, power outages, CDC health shutdowns, schedule misunderstandings, or personal scheduling conflicts.

  • Make-up classes are not guaranteed, and classes will not be prorated for missed sessions.
