The event we've all been waiting for is almost here! Raku Party – Saturday, October 12 – is one of our most anticipated events of the year. This interactive experience supports our education programs so we can continue to enrich the human spirit through art education and clay.
We love what we do and can't wait to share it with you! Raku Party is hands-on, exciting, and a great opportunity for us to come together as a community. Celebrate the legacy of Pewabic and our favorite ancient firing method.
Raku firing dates back to the 16th Century and originated in Kyōto, Japan. Early raku artists adored the unpredictable nature of this process. We practice a Westernized version of raku firing that was introduced in the 1960s. Combustibles were added once this method arrived in America. Watch as our Pewabic artisans fire a vessel of your choosing right before your eyes. Take home a truly unique piece of earthenware after you session ends.
Space is limited, so be sure to sign-up as early as possible. Please join us for a day of fire and fun!
